April Vacation Visual Art Program

Program Dates: April 15 to 19

  • Ages 6 - 12. Please call the office if you'd like to include a 5 year old.

  • Morning class time is 9am-12pm. Afternoon class time is 1pm-4pm. Full day registration includes 1-hour lunch break with staff.

  • Extended day is available from 8am-5:30pm. Pre-registration is required; call the CA office.​

  • Teen Assistants are welcome and pay no fee to assist. Please call the CA office to inquire.

Registration Choices:

  • Register for one or more half days (Art only): $50 each (No sibling discount)

  • Five mornings (9am-12pm) OR five afternoons (1pm-4pm): $210 / $189 Sibling Rate

  • Full week (9am-4pm): $365 / $328.50 Sibling Rate

Story Illustration
Can you illustrate what you hear? Based on the popular Magic Tree House books, this NEW class will first cover basic drawing techniques. While a magical adventure is being read, students will illustrate the story (or characters, landscape, or whatever inspires them!). A guest reader will read portions of 3 books while our teacher works with the students.

Monday Morning

Fiber Art

Students will learn the beautiful craft of weaving with yarn on a sturdy cardboard loom. They will personalize their creations with fabric, beads and findings.

Monday Afternoon

Mini Masterpieces

Paint your interpretation of Picasso, Monet, or your choice with acrylics

Tuesday Morning

Fantastic Wild Creatures

Imaginary creatures come to life with recycled material (boxes, caps, cardboard, etc) + glue!

Tuesday Afternoon

Laura Root

Laura has a Masters in Teaching Art PreK-8 from Salem State University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut. Laura has been teaching art to children since 2005 and has worked within the Arlington and Wakefield school systems. 

Kim Kolodzieczak

Kim has a BFA in Illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA and a MA in Teaching Art from Salem State University. She has had years of volunteer and teaching experience working in classroom settings with children from Kindergarten to middle school.

Learn simple brush techniques
with  bright colors based on O’Keefe’s nature paintings

Warhol Printmaking

Using brightly colored printers ink, create bold animal portraits Warhol style

Rainbow Scratchboard

Sampling geometric and symmetric designs, rainbows of color are revealed beneath

Friday Afternoon

We are looking forward to April Art-acation and all the creativity, friendships and discoveries it will bring! Here are some notes:

 

  • Morning class is 9am-12pm. 

  • Afternoon class is 1pm-4pm. 

  • Full day is 9am-4pm.

  • Please don't drop off students more than 10 minutes before class start time. Pick up is at class end time.

  • If your student will be more than 10 minutes late or needs to leave early, please call the office as a heads up, 781-942-9600.

  • Walk your student into the classroom and initial on the attendance sheet for drop off and pick up.

  • If your student will be picked up by a person other than the primary parent, please send in a note with details about this.

 

Students:

  • We ask students to wear comfortable clothing that can get splattered with paint and glue, and closed-toe shoes, no flip flops. 

 

To Bring:

  • We ask students to bring a water bottle. We have a "bubbler" for refills.

  • Morning and Afternoon students must bring a light snack.

  • Full day students must bring 2 light snacks and a non-refrigerated lunch.

  • Extended Day Afternoon students (4pm-5:30pm), please bring an extra snack. The students can be picked up in the art room or the CA office.

  • Please do not send food with any sort of nuts.

  • Snacks and water bottles are for sale in the office for $1 each.

  • If your student needs medication of any kind while at Creative Arts, please label it clearly, provide doctor's instructions and bring to the CA office early before class begins.
