Summer Art  Programs for Ages 6 -12

Registration Choices

  • One week of 5 mornings: 9am to 12pm, $210 / $189 Sibling Rate​

  • One week of 5 afternoons: 1pm to 4pm, $210 / $189 Sibling Rate​

  • One week of 5 full days: 9am-4pm, $365 / $328.50 Sibling Rate
    ​Registration includes 1-hour lunch break with staff and active playground ground games.

Extended Day

  • Early Care: 8am-9am for $16

  • After Care: 4pm-5:30pm for $24 (Flat rate: care is not sold by the hour)

August 19-23   Summer Mix   Week 8   


Mornings: Mixed Bag Media

The perfect class to experiment with lots of art supplies + surfaces! A new project will be created each day as we make our way through a mixed bag of painting, sculpture, printmaking, upcycling, drawing + more.

Afternoons: Beach House Dreams

Starting with craft sticks + wood worker scraps, students will create the beach house of their dreams! Students are free to craft interiors, exteriors, habitats + more with our collection of art supplies on hand.  


Program Details


  • Friday Student Gallery: Students show their work to family and friends in our weekly exhibition at 11:30 am for morning and 3:30 pm for afternoon programs.

  • Half day students need to bring a water bottle and a peanut free snack. 

  • Full day students must bring a water bottle, 2 small snacks and a lunch, all peanut free.

  • If your student has a food allergy or must have medication available during the program, please contact the office at 781-942-9600.

  • Bottled water and snacks are for sale in the office for $1 each.

  • Weather permitting, we will go outside for snacks and lunch and stay in shady areas.

  • Students must wear closed toe shoes and clothing that can get painted, splotched and messy. No flip flops.


Arrival and Departure

  • Students are not allowed in the classroom until 10 minutes before program start.

  • Parents/caregivers must walk their student into and out of class. Parents/caregivers must sign students in and out on the attendance sheet.

  • If your student is a walker or will be arriving or leaving with a person other than the primary parent, please send a note with your student.

  • If your student will arrive more than 15 minutes late, please call the office.


Extended Day Details

  • All Extended Day students are combined into one group, including all programs running. An adult staff member is with the group at all times. The Program Director is always available to assist with the group.

  • Extended Day students may be picked up in the CA office. If the group is in another location, e.g. doing projects in the art room or Pilgrim Hall, there will be a note on the office door.

  • A reminder that on Fridays, all are invited for a student art mini-gallery at 11:30am and 3:30pm.

  • If you will arrive more than 15 minutes late for drop off or pickup, please call the office at 781-942-9600.

Art Program Faculty

Laura Root

Laura has a Masters in Teaching Art PreK-8 from Salem State University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut. Laura has been teaching art to children since 2005 and has worked within the Arlington and Wakefield school systems. 

Kim Kolodzieczak

Kim has a BFA in Illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA and a MA in Teaching Art from Salem State University. She has had years of volunteer and teaching experience working in classroom settings with children from Kindergarten to middle school.

David W. Kay

David has a BFA from the Mass College of Art where he studied with several prominent photographers. He and his wife started Boston’s Kingston Gallery and ran it for five years. His work has been published and exhibited. In addition to his fine arts prints, he has an extensive portfolio of industrial products and jewelry/craft photography. He is an active member of the Arts Collaborative of Wakefield and he has a studio at Porter Mill Studios in Beverly.
